Marisa joined The Seymour Agency in 2009 as an author, and in 2017, she embraced the laptop lifestyle, earned her doctorate in Organizational Leadership from Northeastern University, and signed her first picture book author in the summer of 2020. As the executive director, she spearheaded a literacy fundraiser, helped create the agency’s internship and mentorship programs, and developed the strategic communications policies. Now, semi-retired, she enjoys working with a select group of authors who write for a broad range of readers - children through adults - within the fiction and nonfiction genres. She’s looking for manuscripts she can’t put down until the last page and can’t stop discussing with random strangers in bookstores. Voice is key for her, and she wants to find her best friends and partners-in-crime protagonists long after the story ends, whether it’s in this world or an alternate universe.
