Julie Blaho

Julie Blaho is a creature-crazy country girl who writes picture books and middle-grade novels. While her focus is on tales for children, she also enjoys writing short stories for adults. She's an author for The People's Friend Magazine and has several flash fiction pieces published. As the SCBWI Coordinator in Italy, she enjoys the creative energy that comes from bringing writers and illustrators together. She organizes meetings, facilitates discussions, and works to keep the group inspired. She's also a member of Mighty KidLit and the 12x12 Challenge.

Away from the keyboard, you'll find her at her farm in Italy, walking or riding through the woods accompanied by her dogs and cats. Yep. The cats come on walks, too! She's a certified nature guide and riding instructor who adores teaching kids to communicate with their ponies. She writes for the same reason as she teaches: to share her joy and appreciation of the natural world.
