Dave Bruns is a retired Child Welfare worker who took advantage of the Covid lockdown to write his first novel, Rule Number Four. A short story, Givin’ the Dog a Bone, featured in the upcoming (2024) anthology Back in Black, followed. Both the book and story feature Carl Boyd, a former Air America pilot turned smuggler. Bruns has been known to say, “Child Welfare workers never get rich, but they always have the best stories at parties”. A career spent working with clients who were drug smugglers, drug dealers and murderers prepared him well for his second career as a storyteller. No, he has never smuggled drugs or buried any bodies, but he has some good ideas on the topics if you’re interested.
Dave attended the University of Toledo where he ran track, and continues to live in the Toledo, Ohio area with his wife Lou Ann.
