Becca is inspired by real-life successes in wildlife rehabilitation and ecosystem revival. She writes fiction and non-fiction picture books that feature animal rescues, rainforests, and urban wildlife.
During the day, she is a preschool director. As an educator, helping kids discover books they love is one of her favorite things to do. As an author, she writes to inspire young readers to care for our planet and for each other.
When she is not at school, or at home writing or researching a new story, she enjoys trekking around the world to enjoy beaches, mountains and rainforests any chance she gets. Originally from Takoma Park, Maryland, she has lived in Mexico, Chile and Costa Rica and currently resides in New York City.
She is the author of BUILDING A BEAK: HOW A TOUCAN’S RESCUE INSPIRED THE WORLD, published by Page Street Kids, and listed as a “Best STEM Book of 2025” by NSTA (National Science Teachers Association). Upcoming books include JUST A SHELL…OR IS IT? and JUST A PUDDLE…OR IS IT? releasing with Abrams in 2026 and 2027, respectively.
