Faran Fagen is the author of “The Save”, a middle grade novel about a young power pitcher’s journey through baseball, autism and love.
Faran’s a transplanted Marylander who now lives in sunny South Florida with his wife, Kara, two kids, and two dogs.
In middle school, Faran interviewed his giant Sudanese neighbor, NBA 7-foot, 6-inch center Manute Bol, for the school newspaper. From then on, he was hooked on writing sports.
In his 25 years as a journalist, Faran wrote for mlb.com and reported on family/community news for The Palm Beach Post, South Florida Parenting, and SunSentinel.
Faran’s taught high school Journalism, English and Computers for 17 years in Pembroke Pines. He directs a camp in the summers to keep his spirit young.
Faran’s also a proud parent of a 13-year-old boy on the autism spectrum who inspires him every day with his growth and persistence. “The Save” is dedicated to his son, his wife and daughter – all three of whom throw major heat.
Two little known facts about Faran are that he can recite all the lyrics to Billy Joel’s “We Didn’t Start the Fire” and lay down one of the meanest bunts in all of South Florida.
