Maya Ameyaw​

Maya Ameyaw is a contemporary YA writer. She was born and raised in Toronto by a family of poets and artists. Previously, she worked as a bookseller while studying sociology at York University. She currently works for InkWell Workshops, a community writing group for people with lived experience of mental health issues and as a counsellor at the Canadian Mental Health Association. Maya has curated and edited several mental health themed anthologies for youth and adults with funding from the Toronto Arts Council. When It All Synchs Up, her contemporary YA work in progress, has been awarded grants by the Toronto Arts Council, the Ontario Arts Council and the Canada Council of the Arts.

Maya has a YouTube channel where she interviews YA authors about their unique paths to publication and debut experiences. In her free time, she enjoys cuddling up with her adorable dwarf rabbit and devouring as much YA as possible.
