Gabriela Diaz is an illustrator whose artworks are a combination of traditional mediums, like markers and gouache paint, that she then edits digitally. Born and raised in Puerto Rico, her culture definitely influences her work and how she sees the world. She graduated from Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD) in 2019, where she majored in Illustration with a double minor in Art History and Sequential Arts. She’s also a lover of interactive sketchbooks! Because of all of this, her pieces tend to include: historical fashion, bright color palettes, a lot of sun and star motifs, and most importantly, diverse characters.
Gabriela is currently working as a freelance artist and is an assistant muralist for a local Latinx community-led artist collective. Because she grew up loving fantasy stories and spooky movies, she loves to surround herself with whimsical things. Just ask her collection of snowglobes, fairytale books, and all the paper scraps she recycles for her journals. So of course, getting to illustrate children’s books and designing book covers is the ultimate goal!
